A Productive Day
I have just got back from having a productive morning at The Clothes Horse. I had a view wins along the way that also helped make this morning few so good too!
I managed to ride my bike to and from The Clothes Horse. I love having a bike. My husband gave me my bike a few Christmas’ ago and it means a lot to me. It gives me FREEDOM! I love the feeling of wind blowing through my hair (if in the right direction not whipping it in my face!). I love wheeling in and out of traffic especially in the summer when the traffic builds. I love how speedily I can get to places. I usually walk so to bike is fast in comparison as I am a slow walker and I make no apologies for that. I love that my bike has baskets, one on the front and two metal ones on the side so I can fit loads in if I need to.
Another win is that the sun is trying super hard to push through the clouds and warm us all up. I am really looking forward to some warmth. Sun shining on my face….bliss.
In between all this I had a meeting at The Clothes Horse and talked all things about clothes, the environment, sewing, slow fashion, vintage, plans and projects. Once I started talking it seemed I had lots to say, more than I realised. It also made me realise that I had a lot of passion for clothes, the environment, sewing, slow fashion and vintage. It was all so refreshing.
I don’t know if it is just me but do you sometimes find yourself doing this too? Sometimes I have my head down working away and I sometimes need to stop, look up and realise what I am working away for! I am squirrelling away working but I forget the bigger picture. Do you do this too?
By talking about The Clothes Horse it made me realise again what we are doing it for.
Like you at The Clothes Horse we are super passionate about the environment. We really want to do our bit. There is so much sad environmental stuff going on and we want to be part of the goodness. By reusing clothes we are keeping clothes where they should be, on us, for our children. We have heaps of quality clothing that are screaming to be re worn. We have enough clothes in circulation already that we don’t really need to make any more.
If you are anything like me the joy of finding a gem of a vintage item is more so than if I bought something new. I like knowing that it is unique and that the odds of me rocking up somewhere wearing the same thing as someone else is minimal is also nice to know!
The knowledge that you can wear vintage and make a saving is also a bonus. A while ago I bought a vintage winter coat for a low price and I love it so much that I know I will be wearing it for years. A double win in my eyes as I really l like it plus it didn’t cost the earth. Literally and figuratively.
We also like the fact that we are a bit different, although perhaps soon we will be the norm. That you can swap clothes or leave a donation, whichever works better. We also like going to pop ups and selling stuff that way too.
We like the fact that we are prompting slow fashion. Is it just me but doesn’t that just sound better? SLOW fashion. I like things slow, time to evolve, develop, find its niche or just keep on going. I like that for clothes too. Can you relate?
This productive meeting has given me a boost and nod to what we are doing and why. We are so grateful that you are on board. That you get us, that you are passionate about these things too.
