Summer
I don’t know about you but I am so happy that we have made it to the summer. May has been teasing us with some lovely warm weather and I am really hoping that June will give us constant sunny days.
Warm, sunny days on the beach. Balmy evenings and sea swims. Everyone seems to me so much more lighter and happier when the sun it out too. Interestingly this is because sun exposure increases the brain’s release of the hormone serotonin which helps to boost mood and helps a person feel calm and focused. I feel freer when it is warm and sunny as well as very adventurous.
We try and get out as much as possible when the weather is warm and sunny; beach days, sea swims, surf, long walks, rock pooling and eating a la fresco.
Every year when we start this season the boys and I start to look for our summer gear. The boys usually realise that they have grown and need shorts that fit them handing down their pairs to their younger brothers. Wetsuits need to reshuffling with the oldest usually needing a ‘new’ one.
Since I am continuing to not buy clothes for me I get out my summer wardrobe and greet them like an old friend. Looking forward to taking on the beach adventures together.
This year we have nearly nailed it, only needing a few more pairs of shorts for a couple of the boys then we are sorted for summer.
I am looking forward to this summer, embracing the season and spending time as a family. I want to go on lots of adventures and enjoy seeing parts of Cornwall that I haven’t seen in a long while.
