Change of season…

We are in it now whether we like it or not. We are mid way through Autumn. I usually find September an adjusting month, the end of chasing the Cornish summer sun, a new season, a putting away of summer hats and flip flops.

I am not great at change so it takes me a while to re adjust and get in to a new season. I also mourn the summer. I love heat, sun, warmth and I don’t want to embrace chilly evenings, shorter days and layers.

I keep out the summer paraphernalia as long as possible, just in case we have an Indian summer, just in case we can stretch out the warmth. This year I feel like we did, September has been lovely and I have tried hard to absorb it all in so that I can store it up and use it to keep me going in the midst of the winter months.

I have just put the sun hats away and slowly putting out winter hats in reachable places in our cloakroom. Slowly I am starting to wear long sleeves and dungarees more often, a coat on chilly mornings when walking.

My youngest son feels the cold the most out of all of us. It is not uncommon for him in the winter months to layer up and wear two pairs of gloves to keep his pointers warm. We talked the other morning about taking it slow, not to layer up so fast that we don’t get the true benefits when freezing cold mornings hit.

I know we have it pretty sweet in Cornwall and I know I may be sounding a bit over dramatic but I am bracing myself a bit. I shouldn’t and I am trying not to, trying to only look at today and that’s it but I am preparing, just in case.

If you are in preparing mode then I am with you! If you need any bits head to the shop or online. We will nail this autumn and winter.
