Summer Activities

I love summer, spending time with the boys and just being together. To keep things easy we go outside lots as a family. We go often to the beach, woods as well as adventures exploring new parts of Cornwall or revisiting favourites. Sometimes we take the train or bus to mix things up make it a bit more exciting.

If the boys need down time, especially when they were younger, we would have some activities to keep us entertained. I thought I would share them here with you just in case you needed them.

Make Ice lollies

A fun activity to do with your children or if old enough to do by themselves. Blend fruit that you have on hand, we often use frozen fruits, you can also add fruit juice if you want to. Put in to ice lolly moulds and once frozen enjoy!

Play a board game

Grab some board games from the local charity shop or car boot and enjoy the fun.

Art

Get out the paints, crayons and so on and get creative.

Model making

Save up your clean recyclables and make some models which can be painted. World is your oyster on this one.

Create a marble run

Save up your cardboard and make a marble run together.

Learn a skill

Learn a new skill such as knitting, sewing, handstands, skipping and practise daily throughout the summer.

Visit the local library

Go to a museum

Go on a nature walk

Go on a bike ride

Sow some seeds

Sow some seeds and watch them grow. Sunflowers and cress heads are great fun but also growing veg is also great with a lovely reward at the end.

Create a comic book

Bake or cook a meal

Make fancy hot chocolates

Toy ice cubes

Put some small toys into tubs that will fit in your freezer, fill tub with water and freeze. Take out and see how long it takes for the toy to be free of its ice cube enclosure.

Hope these may be of interest. Would love to hear how you got on if you give any of them a go.
